Day 88: non-stop goodness!!

Sunday 7/15/12
Miles 1062.5-1078.5 (16 miles)
Elevation 8,610'

Ok, we didn't make a lot of miles, but that was cuz we ran into so much epicness! :D Allison (the gal in the pic) was doing trail magic at one of the road intersections we crossed. She gave us beer, brownies, and cookies. YUM!!! Thanks Allison!! That was amazing. We ran into some other cool hikers too. Tinman is the guy with the dreads, Jack Rabbit is the guy in the blue shirt, they are both section hiking. Minor (named so because he started the trail at 17years old, turned 18 recently) has the blue bandana on his head. We were all there for a couple hours hanging out with Allison and her dog. Lol. It was amazing! Oh, btw Minor started hiking from the mexican border on May 19th. He is hauling ass!!

More epic wildflowers. Yay!! <3 I took a pic, if anyone is a botanist out there, please tell me what those purple flowers are. They're amazing and they smell so good! :D

When I got to Carson Pass, I found kyle, tinman, and Minor there, they Yogi'd a bunch of food from day hikers and were having a feast. Good job guys! Lol. The cheese and flattened dried bananas from trader Joe's was especially delicious :) an hour later, a ranger pulled up and hung out for a while. He was so cool!! He went to go pickup some nachos from a resort down the street for us. Oh man they were sooooo good!! None of us did much hiking after that. Lol. We just found somewhere to camp on the other side of the highway. :)

By the way, holy crap it's been cold at night lately! Brr!!

Oh, about the wizard suits we are making. We've decided that we're going to make them poncho style with a big hood so they'll fit over our packs incase it starts raining. That way it'll have a dual feature. I was telling Kyle when I ran the Honolulu marathon in 2007 some guy had a shirt that said "this seemed like a great idea 6 months ago". Kyle said he wanted to put that on his wizard suit. Lol :D

  1. Keala,
Those purple flowers are lupines, I believe. What awesome photos you've taken. And by the way, just so enjoy you all's relaxed approach to the journey. It's wonderful how you can laugh through just about anything!
    Take care!
